Collection and Disclosing Information

The Joshua Area Chamber of Commerce (JACC) web site has many sections that are open to all users, with no registration required. For these sections, our server does not run software that automatically tracks e-mail addresses of users. However, our server does track domain names, web browser type and version and information regarding the nature and extent of our website's usage.

Member listings are available on our website by accessing the Member Directory. This information is published as a member benefit and is provided by individual members. Member verifications are done periodically throughout the year to ensure we have the latest and most updated information.

We have a third party relationship with our credit card processing companies. Our contract with these companies requires them to comply with applicable law concerning the safeguarding of personal information, and prohibit them from using personal information except for the purpose of providing processing services.

We may share non-personal, non-individual information in aggregate with our vendors and partners who agree to use such information for research purposes only, such as analysis of traffic patterns, sales volume, and other site information.

Users are not required to disclose any personal information in order to view our site. The JACC site may gather some personal identifiable information when it is voluntarily submitted by the user. The types of information collected may include your name, email address, phone number, and postal address. This information is used for its intended purpose, and to better serve the users. All personally identifiable information obtained from users is treated with great care in order to protect your privacy and security. JACC authorizes only trained and qualified employees to access the information you choose to provide. The information volunteered is used solely by JACC and will not be shared with unrelated outside parties.

From time to time, we may use your address, phone number or e-mail address to provide you with updates and other information we think may be of interest to you. You have the ability to opt out of such information if you wish;

We collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail. We do not typically sell e-mail addresses to third parties but reserve the right to offer usage rights to current chamber members.

We also collect information volunteered by users in relation to an on-line survey and/or site registrations. This information is kept confidential by JACC and is not used for purposes outside of the intent of the survey or registration form.

Links

This site may contain links to other sites, whose information practices may be different than ours. We strive to protect your information and suggest you read the privacy policies of the site to which you are redirected BEFORE supplying any personal information. In addition, we may have no control over information that is submitted to, or collected by, those parties.

Restricted Access

Some areas of these sites are password-protected for Chamber members, such as members only section.

Security

JACC treats all personally identifiable information collected on our Web site as securely as possible. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption on credit card processing forms that require submission through electronic data transfer. Our staff is trained to treat member and customer information with the utmost confidentiality. Opting Out

If you attend a Chamber event, or supply us with your postal address, phone number, or email address, you may receive periodic communications from JACC via the same medium. The communications will provide information on services available, policy positions or upcoming events.

If you do no longer wish to receive such communications from JACC, please use the unsbscribe link found in our broadcast newsletters or contact our office.

If you would like to e-mail us separately, please provide the information mentioned above and type the phrase "Opt Out" in the subject header field.

Use of coupons/offers

Coupons without an expiration date typically will not be accepted when registering for a Chamber event. JACC is not responsible for any offer from current chamber members or 3rd parties. If you have an issue with a particular offer from a 3rd party/chamber member, contact them directly.

Event registration, attendance and/or cancellation

Although JACC will make every reasonable attempt to notify all interested parties of any event modifications as soon as possible, JACC reserves the right to change, modify or cancel the date and/or times of a specific event and any activities associated with that event with no prior notification.

Welcome to our website. JACC allows certain sections of the Web site to display graphics and/or comments from other chamber members, 3rd parties or individuals.  All users of our Web site and any contributions they make to this site must comply with this Code of Conduct. Your use of our website means that you accept and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.

We may need to revise the Code of Conduct from time to time by amending this page. Please review this page regularly to ensure you are aware of any changes we make as they are legally binding on you. If you reasonably believe that any contribution to our websites made by another user contravenes this Code of Conduct and/or any other website terms, please notify us immediately.

Within this Code of Conduct, “contribution” means any material posted or uploaded to our websites by a member of the public, including without limitation any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio material.

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS:

  • must be your own original work or you must have proper usage rights. You may be entitled to incorporate into your contribution certain material made available on our websites but only where that is expressly made clear.
  • must not infringe anyone else’s rights, including copyright. Your contributions must not plagiarise or infringe the rights of any other person including any copyright, database, trade mark, trade secret, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights of any kind. Therefore with regard to existing articles, news reports, music, video clips or other copyright material you will generally need the explicit permission of the relevant copyright owners

  • must be true and accurate. Your contributions must be true, accurate (where they state facts) and be genuinely held (where they state opinions).
  • must not contain unsuitable or irrelevant website addresses or URLs. Links to pornography or other inappropriate content may be deleted.
  • must not promote illegal or anti-social behavior. Contributions must not contain violent or sexually explicit material or advocate, promote or assist any unlawful act such as (by way of example only) terrorist acts, copyright infringement or computer misuse.
  • must not misrepresent their origins. Contributions and/or user names may not be used to impersonate any other person, to misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or to give the impression that they emanate from us, if that is not the case.
  • must not be in any language other than English (or the predominant language of the website if not English). Contributions in other languages may be removed.
  • must not involve any flooding, spamming or advertising. Flooding is when the same comment is posted over and over; spamming is the posting of the same comment (or very similar) to multiple areas of the website. BREACH OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT
It will be our sole decision as to whether there has been a breach of this Code of Conduct. We have the right (but not the obligation) to edit, refuse to post, or to remove any contribution in whole or in part that we deem to be in breach of the Code of Conduct. Where we believe there is a breach of the Code of Conduct, we may take whatever action we feel is appropriate in the circumstances. Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct constitutes a material breach of using this website, which could result in us taking any of the following actions:
